Joseph A. (Jay) Geary was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He received his B.A. in American Civilization from Brown University in 1972, and his law degree from Northeastern University in 1979. He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Geary practices in the areas of complex business and commercial litigation, insurance coverage and casualty defense litigation, commercial trucking and transportation law, computer and software law, general corporate and business matters and homeowners' associations. He is a frequent seminar lecturer on insurance coverage litigation and insurance coverage trends.
Mr. Geary is a member of The Florida Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Eleventh Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the United States District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. He is also admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
Mr. Geary is a former Master with the Willson American Inn of Court and former president of the Lakeland Bar Association (1993 - 1994). He has practiced in Lakeland since 1987 and was a shareholder in the law firm of Harris, Midyette, Geary, Darby & Morrell, P.A., and a senior attorney with Peterson & Myers, P.A., before joining Ross Vecchio as a shareholder in 2007.
