Listing in Super Lawyers magazine is determined through a three-step selection process overseen by Law & Politics. No other legal publisher identifies qualified candidates by using a multi-step evaluation process that incorporates peer recognition and professional achievement.
Step One: Creation of the Candidate Pool. Law & Politics mailed more than 44,000 ballots to active lawyers in Florida who have been in practice for five years or more. Lawyers were asked to nominate the best attorneys that they’ve personally observed in action. Each nomination carried a point value. An out-of-firm vote had substantially greater point value than an in-firm vote. Lawyers were not allowed to vote for themselves.
Step Two: Law & Politics’ research department examined the background and experience of candidates, evaluating indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Factors considered in this evaluation were:
- Verdicts & settlements
- Honors & Awards
- Pro bono & community service
- Transactions
|
- Special licenses & certifications
- Scholarly lectures & writings
- Representative clients
- Position within law firm
|
- Education & employment background
- Experience
- Bar and other professional activity
- Other outstanding achievements
|
Step Three: Peer Evaluation by Practice Area. Those with high point totals from the first two steps were asked to be on a blue ribbon panel for their practice area. Panelists reviewed and evaluated candidates from their practice area.
Following this three-step process, Law & Politics divided candidates according to firm size and selected those with the highest point totals from each category. Only 5 percent of the total lawyers in Florida are listed in Super Lawyers.
We are very pleased that Tom has received this well deserved recognition by his peers. Congratulations, Tom!
